Winemaking
Vinified separately with each parcel naturally fermented in stainless steel. The Nebbiolo is immediately separated from skins whilst the Barbera receives a further week maceration. The fruit is matured independently in a mix of small French oak casks and large Slavonion oak for eight months before blending and a further four months ageing in large oak casks.
2007 Vintage
Piedmont in 2007 was very dry with a warm than average summer. Yields were very low which, along with underlying soil moisture, aided the vineyards in surviving the conditions. The wines are balanced with rich fruit flavours without being over-ripe or jammy.
Tasting Note
A bright brick red colour with crimson highlights. The palate is complex and alluring, combining dark berry fruit and blueberries with underbrush and hints of chocolate and toasted coffee. The palate is rich and fruit driven with Barbera’s vibrant berry flavours matched by the savoury tobacco leaf and fine tannins of Nebbiolo.
